Murphy to Lead the Redhawks

Updated: Apr 2, 2020

Lauren Murphy has been named Head Coach of Seneca's Girls' Basketball team. The Eastern alum and former IU Southeast player previously served as an Assistant Coach at Christian Academy of Louisville and Ballard High School. Though this is Murphy's first head coaching position, her time as the Director of Manimal Elite Girls' Basketball has given her a plethora of experience. Serving as the director of Louisville's newest AAU program, Murphy has built connections with the community, players, and parents. Learning how to create a solid foundation for the Manimal Elite Girls program is a skill she will use in her new position with the Redhawks. With the loss of leading scorer and rebounder, Dais Ja Trotter, to graduation, Seneca must find a new identity. Murphy plans to address this by attracting players to the school and program, changing the culture to a positive and competitive atmosphere, and establishing a support system throughout the school and community. Despite being in the competitive 7th Region, Murphy has high expectations for her first year leading the program. "We have returners with Varsity experience, so by tournament time, we hope to gain more respect for the program and make it to Region."
